Fanett Tabouret
The kinship with the Fanett Chair is unmistakable; the stool shares similar aesthetics, combining low weight with a stable construction. The Fanett Tabouret features a complex design requiring exceptional craftsmanship. The curved wood edging of the seat boasts a tight radius – a challenge few furniture manufacturers would tackle today. Perhaps we might have hesitated too, had we not already known we could master it.
Some things are new
quality and style remains
Edsbyn’s production of stick back chairs began as early as 1936 as a way to make use of leftover wood from the ski manufacturing.
Fanett was introduced in 1949, when Lennart Karlstorp, head of the stick back chair production, developed a chair that minimized both weight and manufacturing costs. A few years later, this design was further refined by Ilmari Tapiovaara and given the model name 55T.
Sales took off, and by the time Fanett went out of production in 1970, over 5 million chairs had been sold. Ever since, we’ve been asked to bring it back.
